Craft a simple pillowcase with just two seams! Opt to include an accent piece or keep it straightforward. Perfect for gifting to friends or family, or contributing to a guild’s charity project.
Materials:
3/4 yard main fabric
1/4 yard cuff fabric
1-1/2″ x WOF for optional trim
Thread to match or coordinate with your fabric
Scissors or rotary cutter
Sewing machine
Iron and ironing board
Pins or clips
Cutting:
Main Body: 27″ x WOF
Cuff: 9″ x WOF
Accent Trim: 2″ x WOF
Steps:
Fold fabric pieces in half, salvage to salvage.
Lay your fabrics on top of each other with the folded edges together.
Trim the salvage edge off. The pieces should measure about 21″folded. or 42″ unfolded.
4. Fold the accent trim in half lengthwise with wrong sides together. Press. (This step is optional if you are using the accent trim) Skip to step 5 if not using accent trim.
5. Lay the 9″ cuff down right side up with the long edge horizontal.
6. If using the accent trim, place the folded accent trim on top of the cuff matching raw edges at the top of long edge.
6. Place the 27″ main fabric right side down on top of the 9″ cuff matching raw edge. ( or on top of the accent trim if using it)
7. Roll the main body fabric up towards the top.
8. Fold the 9″ cuff piece on the bottom over the rolled up main piece and match it to the raw edges at the top.
9. Pin or clip in place.
10. Sew with a 1/4″ seam.
11. Turn tube right side out.
12. Press the top cuff.
13. Fold pillowcase in half lengthwise with wrong sides together.
14. Sew 1/4″ seam along the bottom and side.
15. Trim seam to about 1/8″ (0ptional)
16. Turn pillow case with the wrong side out and press the seams that you sewed.
